Boxford Athletic Association

Players in grades 5 through 8 are invited to try out for a travel team.  Tryouts are in October.  The number of teams formed each year is determined by interest in the program, overall ability of the age group, available gym space, and coaching volunteers.  Most travel teams have two practices during the week and two games on the weekend.  The season runs through mid-March.

Girls Grades 5 through 8 - Girls A teams play in the River Valley League and B teams play in the North Shore League.  Home games are on Saturdays at the Masco Gym, Proctor, or Essex Aggie.  Away games are on Saturdays and/or Sundays.  Practices are weekday evenings at Masco, the elementary schools, or Essex Aggie.  Practice times are at 3:30, 5:00, 6:30, or 8:00, with the later times usually assigned to the 7th and 8th graders.  The fee is $230.  Players purchase uniforms.

Boys in Grades 5 through 8 - Boys A teams play in the Cape Ann Youth Basketball League and B teams play in the Eastern League. Home games are on Saturdays at the Masco Gym, Proctor, or Essex Aggie.  Away games are on Saturdays and/or Sundays. Practices are weekday evenings at Masco, the elementary schools, or Essex Aggie at 5:00, 6:30, or 8:00, with the later times usually assigned to the 7th and 8th graders.  The fee is $230.  Uniforms are loaned to 7th and 8th grade players.  Fifth and sixth graders will purchase their shirts and shorts.

Intramural Opt Out

ALL PLAYERS ARE REQUIRED TO REGISTER FOR INTRAMURALS.
Opt Out actions occur after travel tryouts.  You must register for Intramurals in order to attend tryouts.

PLAYERS WHO ARE SELECTED TO PLAY ON AN "A" TRAVEL TEAM WILL NO LONGER PARTICIPATE IN THE INTRAMURAL PROGRAM.  Your intramural fee will automatically be applied to the travel fee.

Other travel players may opt out of intramurals, but the decision must be made before the intramural draft, which usually occurs during the first week in November.  We encourage and expect participation in both travel AND intramurals for B team players to maximize the amount of playing time for the kids and give them an opportunity to participate with more of their friends.

Travel Team Tryouts

Each grade has two designated tryout dates and times.  The program administrators work very hard to avoid conflicts with fall sports, however, a tryout date may occasionally conflict with football, soccer or other activities.  Attendance is REQUIRED.  Tryout times are posted on the calendar on this website.

Players run through drills and play in live game situations.  Skills are assessed by at least four neutral evaluators.  Evaluators do not participate in his/her child's age group.

Shortly after the tryouts are finished, rosters are posted on this website.
